Global consortium Aries Group has set up a new studio for visual effects, stereoscopics and animation. The state-of-the-art facility encompasses over 16,000 square feet of space in the Ganga Technopark Phase III in Thiruvananthapuram. The studio complex also houses a preview theater.
The new studio, Aries Epica, will have entry into stereoscopics thanks to the company’s takeover of pioneering provider Epic Studios. The Technopark facility will also house the Epica Academy, touted as the first 3D stereoscopic film school featuring modern facilities and motion-capturing equipment. The Academy aims to provide quality education in stereoscopy, 2D and 3D animation, editing, audio engineering and vfx, according to CEO Sohan Roy.
Aries Group is made up of independent firms across Singapore, India, China, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and the US. It recently took over major South Indian post-production house Vismaya Max. Studio managing director Jeemon Pullely told The Hindu Business Line that Epica will be an international hub, serving entertainment industry clients in the US, Canada, Europe and the Middle East.
