Hybrid Nicktoons Feature Rumored in Works

In what may just be mounting rumor mill excitement over reports that Nickelodeon is considering reviving some of its classic, fan-favorite cartoons, the latest bit of grist being worked is that Paramount Pictures is in early development stages of a live-action/animation hybrid flick that will bring popular Nicktoons characters to the big screen in something akin to the recent SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water or WB’s Space Jam.

The scoop comes from The Tracking Board, which is not 100% reliable, but for the optimistic: Mary Parent, producer of Sponge Out of Water, is supposedly on board the Nicktoons crossover project along with Cale Boyter through their Disruption Entertainment banner, currently seeking writers.

Tracking Board says Paramount is in the process of obtaining rights for each of the shows they wish to include — the likes of Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold! and Rocko’s Modern Life — and that the film is pitched as a kind of Nicktoons-style Justice League concept.
