16 Features Enter Oscar Animation Race

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have revealed that 16 animated features have completed the submission requirements for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 88th Academy Awards. The five nominees will be announced January 14, 2016, and the winner will be revealed at the Oscars ceremony February 28, 2016 in Hollywood.

In alphabetical order, the potential nominees are:

  • Anomalisa, directed by Duke Johnson & Charlie Kaufman (Starburns Industries)
  • The Boy and the Beast, Mamoru Hosoda (Studio Chizu)
  • The Boy and the World, Alê Abreu (Filme de Papel/GKIDS)
  • The Good Dinosaur, Peter Sohn (Disney-Pixar)
  • Home, Tim Johnson (DreamWorks Animation)
  • Hotel Transylvania 2, Genndy Tartakovsky (Sony Pictures Animation)
  • Inside Out, Pete Docter (Disney-Pixar)
  • Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, Rogers Allers et al (GKIDS)
  • The Laws of the Universe – Part 0, Isamu Imakake (HS Pictures Studio)
  • Minions, Kyle Balda & Pierre Coffin (Universal-Illumination)
  • Moomins on the Riviera, Xavier Picard & Hanna Hemila (Handler Prod., Pictak)
  • The Peanuts Movie, Steve Martino (Blue Sky Studios)
