NBCUniversal’s Sprout network has launched its first original preschool series of 2016: Floogals, from Wissper creator Dan Good. A sneak peek aired on the 24-hour kids network on January 18 as Sprout’s highest rated premiere for kids 2-5 and women 18-49. It officially premiered on Saturday.
Aimed at kids aged 2-6, Floogals is a CG animation and live-action hybrid series that follows three inquisitive aliens as they explore Earth and learn about how humans live. The blend of techniques captures the quirks of life on our planet as seen from the perspective of the pocket-sized ET heroes Captain Fleeker, First Officer Flo and Junior Boomer.
Sprout supported the series launch by partnering with Digital Kitchen and YouTube channel FluffyjetToys to release the A Dinosaur, Unicorn and Robot Play in Space!! Ice Cream Dough Cake Pop Egg Surprise Alien Chica unboxing video featuring the three diminutive aliens. Sprout and SweetFrog frozen yogurt are also teaming up for a DIY “Floogals Fundae” featuring characters from the show available in stores nationwide in February and March. And an immersive Floogals experience will run at five discovery centers and museums across the U.S. in April and May.
Based on an original concept by Dan Good, Floogals is a co-production of Sprout and The Foundry, Zodiak Kids Studios’ U.K. production house. Floogals is produced in conjunction with special effects studio Jellyfish Pictures and Nevision Limited.
