CBBC and BBC Worldwide have revealed the shortlist of entries that will go into the second stage of the channel’s animation pilot scheme ANIM8, with the aim of finding the next big thing in UK animation. This first-ever, nationwide search invited pitches from independent artists, studios and companies and received close to 300 entries from animators, writers, designers and storyboard artists across the country.
These submissions have been narrowed down to eight entrants that will go into further development with the support of CBBC and BBC Worldwide. The projects will be assessed again in March, with select entrants continuing along the multistage development process, including a pitch to channel teams. The last pitch standing will go into pilot production and will be announced in April.
