Global Screen has acquired worldwide distribution rights to English-language animated feature Bayala — a new 3D fantasy project aimed at family audiences from the producers of Niko and the Way to the Stars and Ooops! Noah Is Gone… Global Screen will start presales for the film at the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes.
Currently in pre-production and set for delivery in late 2018 or early 2019, Bayala is produced by Ulysses Films (Germany) in co-production with Fabrique d’Images (Luxembourg), with Studio Rakete (Germany) responsible for design and animation, based on a script by Austrian children’s author and screenwriter Vanessa Walder.
Synopsis:
Set in a magical world of fantasy, populated by charming elves, unicorns and mythical creatures, the story revolves around the elf princesses Sera and Surah. As the wise dragons have almost disappeared from the kingdom of Bayala, the magic powers of the elves are weakening, a quarrel has driven off the shadow elves. Surah is thrilled when she discovers she has the key to save their world in her hands: a dragon egg! Now the sisters must reach the dragon hills, as they set out on an adventurous journey into the unknown…
The world of Bayala was created by German toymaker Schleich for its internationally known line of high-end fantasy figurines. The film’s release will be accompanied by a global roll-out of special movie edition bayala figures.
