Acclaimed stop-motion animation studio LAIKA — which is unleashing its latest fantasy masterpiece Kubo and the Two Strings in U.S. theaters on August 19 through Focus Features — announces a special interactive event, “From Coraline to Kubo: A Magical LAIKA Experience.” The exhibition will be held August 5-14 at Universal Studios Hollywood, in the Globe Theatre. Admission is included with entry to the theme park.
A first for the studio, “A Magical LAIKA Experience” will feature an up-close look at the artistic detail and imagination behind the studio’s 10-year history of delivering groundbreaking films, including the Academy Award-nominated features Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012) and The Boxtrolls (2014). The event will showcase the evolution of LAIKA’s unique blend of handcrafted stop-motion and visual effects through four themed rooms, populated with an extensive display of original sets, puppets and props.

This experience offers a rare glimpse into the remarkable creative process of the brilliant artists and mad geniuses of LAIKA. I’m thrilled that their cinematic wizardry will be beautifully on display at Universal Studios Hollywood.”
