‘Analysis Paralysis’ Wins Grand Prix at Encounters Fest

The winners of the 2016 Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival have been announced, with 23 honors bestowed at the Awards Ceremony in Bristol, England. The Animated Grand Prix went to Latvia-born Swiss animator Anete Melece for her colorful, impressionistic film Analysis Paralysis.

Watershed’s DepicT! Award for 90-second films went to Petra Balkic’s bold animated piece Impacts. The Awards Ceremony at Encounters also bestowed two nominations, including a Cartoon d’Or nomination for David Dell’Edera for his suspenseful digital animation Balcony, which won a Jury Award at Annecy this year.

The Europe Film Association nomination went to Issa Touma, Thomas Vroege and Floor van der Meulen’s 9 Days from My Window in Aleppo. The live-action Grand Prix winner was Brady Hood for Sweet Maddie Stone. This year’s Encounters screened 231 films in competition over three days, and was attended by more than 150 nominated filmmakers.
