The 18th edition of Animated Dreams, taking place Nov. 16-20 in Estonia’s fairytale capital Tallinn, has finished narrowing down its 500-plus submissions to 66 films which will run in three competitions programs. The Grand Competition comprises 28 films from 21 different countries, with 24 films in the student competition and 20 dialog- and narration-free shorts in the newest program, SHUT UP!
Multiple award-winning filmmaker Olga Pärn serves as artistic director of Animated Dreams, and describes this year’s competing films as “strong films with brilliant direction and very personal artistic statements.”
The Grand Competition will be judged by an international jury including renowned animation historian and writer Giannalberto Bendazzy of Italy, Goya Award winner Pedro Rivero (Birdboy) of Spain, and treasured Estonian animation director and cinematographer Janno Põldma (Lotte and the Moonstone Secret).
