DHX Media has secured five new deals that expands the kids’ content company’s presence in China, with over 2,400 half-hours of preschool and children’s fare licensed to VOD services in the country. The deal spans 19 series, including classic Teletubbies, Caillou, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Twirlywoos, Inspector Gadget, Super WHY! And Messy Goes to OKIDO.

These shows will now have local SVOD homes on Shanghai Media Group’s Best TV and SiTV platforms (986 half-hours); Mango (468 half-hours); PPLive (519 half-hours) and Youku Tudou (390 half-hours). In addition, iQiyi has added 51 half-hours to the 400 half-hours of DHX content already available on its platform.

The new quintet of deals highlights DHX’s established and growing presence in China, in both English and Mandarin. The Canada-based company is represented with more than 6,100 half-hours of its content currently available across 13 VOD platforms, including Alibaba and LeTV, and a partnership with state broadcaster China National Television.

“Our kids’ content performs incredibly well in this major market, as evidenced by the deals we have signed with China’s largest streaming and linear broadcasters over the past two years for a significant volume of library content,” said Josh Scherba, SVP Distribution for DHX Media. “These newest deals further underscore our position as the go-to distributor for kids’ content with proven global appeal.”
