Doug Herzog will be vacating his post as President of Viacom’s Music and Entertainment Group — which includes the Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Spike and Logo networks — as of January 12. Rather than install a replacement, Music and Entertainment Group entities will report directly to Viacom CEO Bob Bakish.
Herzog assumed leadership over the M&E Group in April of 2015 when the two divisions merged. He had previously been head of the Entertainment Group, comprised of Comedy Central, Spike and TV Land, where under his leadership the networks launched highly acclaimed original programs including South Park, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Broad City, Key & Peele, Inside Amy Schumer, Bar Rescue and Lip Sync Battle.
First joining MTV Productions in 1984, Herzog rose to the role of President, later becoming President of Comedy Central in 1995. He moved over to Fox Broadcasting Company and was President of Entertainment there from 1998 to 200, then President of USA Network from 2001 to 2004, when he rejoined Viacom.
