Distributor Open Road Films has released the official trailer and poster for action-packed animated comedy feature Spark: A Space Tail, in theaters April 14. The spot shows off a colorful planetary world populated by animal beings (with sweet martial arts skills) and promises a tale of destiny, justice, and just enough monkey business.
Written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Aaron Woodley (who is also helming the upcoming Arctic Justice), Spark: A Space Tail centers on Spark (voiced by Jace Norman), a wisecracking teen living on an abandoned planet with his friends Chunk (Rob deLeeuw) and Vix (Jessica Biel). Thirteen years prior, the power-hungry General Zhong (A.C. Peterson) seized control of their planet Beta, wiping out Spark’s family and sending him into hiding. But discovering who he really is and learning of Zhong’s plan to unleash a deadly space Kraken to wipe out the universe, Spark and his friends embark on an epic adventure to put a stop to it.
The film also voice stars Susan Sarandon, Patrick Stewart and Hilary Swank. Spark is produced by Youngki Lee, Harry Linden, Wookyung Jung, Tracy Grant and Jun Zheng as a Canada-South Korea co-pro of Red Rover International, Toonbox Entertainment and Gulfstream Pictures.
