Freitag Taps 5 Animators to Retell Its Brand Story

If you’ve ever wondered how Swiss company Freitag came to put a fashionable spin on recycling back in 1993, you can now take in their story through a series of animated shorts commissioned with no creative limits. With boutiques all over the world, Freitag creates unique bags, accessories and workwear out of old cargo truck tarps.

Dubbed TARP BLANCHE, the campaign will include films from five different artists which relate the tale in different ways, with different plots, styles and drives. Two shorts have been released so far: Gabriel Agustin Freire’s Flythrough takes an insect’s-eye view tour through a Freitag factory, and Neil Stubbings Truckin’ is a black and white nod to midcentury animation which gives a tall tale interpretation on the brand story — and answers the question, where do baby trucks come from?

Coming soon will be works by Beni Morard & Frederic Siegel, Vik & Nes, and Burcu & Geoffrey. You can check back at the TARP BLANCHE page for the latest films, and link through to interviews and making-ofs for the completed shorts.
