Russia’s smash-hit animated comedy Masha and the Bear continues to build on its global success. In the Americas, the series launched in April on Corus Entertainment’s top-rated preschool network Treehouse (Canada) following an order for seasons 1 and 2. Turner airs the first two seasons on Cartoon Network in Latin America and has picked up season 3.
INK Group recently brokered deals with pubcaster RAI and De Agostini in Italy for season 3 and the spin-off series, Masha’s Spooky Stories. In France, Canal Plus picked up Spooky Stories and France TV nabbed season 3. Puls TV in Poland also opted for Spooky Stories. And Clan TV in Spain has started airing seasons 1 and 2 this summer. Season 3 sales have been secured with other major European channels, to be announced later.
Elsewhere, seasons 1 and 2 of Masha and the Bear and Masha’s Spooky Stories have begun airing on Viacom18 Media channels in India. New Zealand national broadcasters TVNZ offers season 1 on its Kidzone On Demand platform — a linear debut on free TV channel TVNZ 2 is slated for September.
