CAKE Inks Multiseries Deal with Virgin TV Following App Launch

Kids entertainment co. CAKE has secured a distribution deal with Virgin TV which will bring programs from the CAKE catalog — nearly 500 episodes in all — to Virgin TV Kids’ no demand service (available to Virgin Media subscribers in the UK and Ireland) and its brand new Kids app, launched August 24.

“We are very excited to bring nearly 500 episodes of great kids content to Virgin TV with CAKE,” said David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin TV. “The addition of programming such as Angry Birds, Total Drama and Wanda and the Alien underlines our commitment to a market-leading kids offer for Virgin TV. Kids TV is a clear focus for us and it is great to have CAKE as key a partner.”

Additional highlights of the deal’s programming package include Rovio Ent.’s latest Angry Birds toons Angry Birds Blues (launched earlier this year) and Piggy Tales: 4th Street (in production) and BAFTA-nominated kids’ live-action sci fi series The Sparticle Mystery.

Ed Galton, CCO and Managing Director at CAKE said, “It is exciting to be working with Virgin TV as they expand their offering to kids and we hope this will be the beginning of a fruitful partnership.”
