Trailer: James Corden Leads a Barnyard Bacchanal in SPA’s ‘Peter Rabbit’

Columbia Pictures has dropped the trailer for its modernized, CG animation/live-action hybrid take on the world of Beatrix Potter: Peter Rabbit. Produced in partnership with World of Beatrix Potter property owner Frederick Warne & Co. (part of Penguin Random House UK), the modern reset is directed by Will Gluck (Friends with Benefits) with animation by Aussie shop Animal Logic (The LEGO Movie franchise). The film opens February 9, 2018.

The trailer opens with a sunlit English countryside that author-illustrator-nature scientist Potter would delight in, before taking a whiplash change of course. With James Corden (who recently caused a stir with his post-Emmy PDA) leading the pack as blue-jacketed scamp Peter Rabbit, the trailer introduces a raucous gang of farm animals and forest critters bent on using Mr. McGregor’s (Domhnall Gleeson) home as a party pad.

Peter Rabbit follows the escalating feud between Peter and McGregor — rivals for the affections of animal-loving (human) neighbor Bea (Rose Byrne). The voice cast also features Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki and Daisy Ridley as triplets Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail.
