Fri., Oct. 27, 10 a.m., Sala Cavour
A remarkable blend of computer and hand-drawn animation, the film is the work of over a hundred artists across three countries and is based on Deborah Ellis’ acclaimed novel. Directed by Nora Twomey (The Secret of Kells), The Breadwinner tells the extraordinary story of an 11-year- old Afghan girl who disguises herself as a boy, in order to provide for her family. The first-ever presentation of “The Making of The Breadwinner” is presented by the film’s award-winning Technical Director Mark Mullery, who will present a look behind the scenes of the modern 2D animated feature that combines 21st Century technology and age-old hand-drawn techniques. Mullery is Studio Technical Director for Cartoon Saloon. He also serves as Assistant Director on their upcoming feature Wolfwalkers.
