Clip: Animating Spidey with Imageworks

For the latest take on Marvel Comics’ ever-popular webslinger, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony Pictures Imageworks completed over 300 VFX shots — including creating a realistic digital double of actor Tom Holland’s young scrappy hero. Scrolls down to check out a cool behind-the-scenes video that delves into how the Imageworks team tackled this technical and artistic challenge!

Directed by Jon Watts, the film is a fresh origin story with heart that follows teen Peter Parker (Holland) as he begins to navigate his new superhero identity after his exciting encounter with the Avengers. Under the watchful eye of his new mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Peter tries to get back to normal life while hoping to prove himself as Spider-Man, and comes face to face with a new villain known as the Vulture (Michael Keaton).

Spider-Man: Homecoming is available now for digital download and is coming soon to 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD (Oct. 17) with special features including gag reel, 10 deleted scenes, The Spidey Study Guide, “Rappin’ with the Cap” Captain America PSAs, seven behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more!
