Atlantyca Entertainment has inked a broadcast deal with Rai (Italy) to broadcast a 52 x 11′ package of the popular, fast-paced kids’ comedy horror series Scream Street from Coolabi Group. The stop-motion series, loosely based on the books by British author Tommy Donbavand, will launch on the Rai Gulp channel this fall. The scareventures follow a young werewolf named Luke, who moves with his “not supernatural family” to a very supernatural address on Scream Street. Here he meets best friends Resus, a vampire rock ‘n’ roller, and Cleo, a charming 4,000-year-old mummy. Produced by Coolabi Group, ZDF Enterprises holds worldwide distribution rights outside UK, Eire, Australia & New Zealand; Atlantyca holds diverse distribution rights for Italy from ZDFE, and has been appointed the show’s licensing agent for Italian-speaking territories by Coolabi.

Anima Estudios, SLR Productions, Home Plate Ent. and Telegael announce that Bejuba! Entertainment has taken over international distribution of animated comedy series Teenage Fairytale Dropouts. As part of the agreement, the (52 x 11′) series has been redubbed Awesome Magical Tales. The show is set in a realm of magic and centers on a trio of misfit teen friends trying to make their way in the wacky world of Fairytale Estates: Jeremiah, the son of the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk; Fury, the daughter of the Tooth Fairy; and Trafalgar, one of Merlin’s many nephews. Each struggles in their own way to find their own path without tripping over their guardian’s footsteps. Giochi Preziosi, leading European kids’ entertainment company Planeta Junior and animation studio Kotoc took advantage of the MIP Junior spotlight to premiere their new 3D CG-animated action-comedy series Gormiti (52 x 11′; Boys 5-8). Based on the globally popular toy property which has reached 50+ countries and sold more than 500 million figures (1.5 billion euros in sales) since the launch in 2005, the show follows four kids whose dreams of becoming heroes came true when the One Tower reveals itself, and sets them on a quest to defend Gorm from the Darkans. With the help of Ao-Ki, the girl tasked with training them, the new heroes will master the Elemental Bracers, call the legendary Gormiti and save their world. WDR mediagroup‘s International Content Sales division is having a successful run with children’s programming at MIP, selling four charming series to partners in Asia and the Americas. Maus, a German television institution for about 45 years, has been picked up by Canal Once in Mexico with the support of the “German Year in Mexico” project. Bobo, based on a classic kids’ book, is heading to Daekyo Kids (South Korea, pay TV) and V-ME (Spanish-speaking US, VOD and pay TV). Finally, Trude’s Flatmate and Finnish preschool app/series hit Gigglebug will make a new home in China on VOD via JY Animation.
Polish animation has a strong presence at the market, following its national spotlight at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse. Among the series being shopped at MIP (per Variety) are Badi Badi’s animal fantasy-fable The Wriggles (26 x 11′) and season 3 of Agi Bagi, sold to 60+ countries; Serafinski and Studio Miniatur’s outdoors-focused preschool adventure Bianca & Albert’s Patchwork Kingdom; Animoon’s 13-part short-format series I Love This; and Letko’s Slavic/Scandinavian myth project Sol & Liv (13 x 10′, in development).
