Turner & HBO form Toonix International SVOD

Time-Warner is continuing to expand its recent focus on streaming content for consumers with a new service aimed at international child audiences. Toonix is the product of a collaboration between Time-Warner companies HBO Nordic and Turner EMEA (Europe, Middle-East, Africa) with a focus on delivering animated content to young audiences aged 3 to 12. The service is slated to feature thousands of episodes of television and movies culled from Turner as well as Warner Bros. entertainment libraries.

Toonix launched on HBO Nordic today. HBO Nordic is HBO’s Scandinavian division, delivering premium content for adults such as Game of Thrones and Westworld to audiences in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Toonix launched free for those already subscribed to HBO Nordic, and already features 2,000+ episodes of television for viewers.

Properties currently represented include The Amazing World of Gumball, Looney Tunes, LEGO Ninjago, Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, Shaun the Sheep, Alfie Atkins, and My Little Pony. Also featured are local favorites Pippi Longstocking and The Moomins. Streams will be advertising-free.

This latest expansion of subscriber-based streaming comes after Turner announced a deal with UEFA, the governing body of European soccer, for a three years multi-platform rights agreement to stream the 2017-2018 soccer tournament season.
