This follow-up to the 2013 Spanish toon hit Tad, the Lost Explorer — a.k.a. Tadeo Jones — just this week took the Best Animated Feature prize at Spain’s Goya Awards, and scored the same honor at Catalonia’s Gaudi Awards at the end of January.
Directed by David Alonso and Tadeo Jones creator Enrique Gato, the movie centers on a construction worker named Tad who gets a shot of his dreams of being a famous globetrotting archeologist. The chance of a lifetime comes when he is invited to attend archaeologist Sara Lavrof’s presentation of her latest discovery–: the papyrus that proves the existence of the Necklace of Midas, the legendary King who turned everything he touched into solid gold. When an evil billionaire forces Sara to help him find the enchanted talisman, Tad must rescue the girl of his dreams on a trip around the world, in this action-packed comedy adventure for the whole family.
The movie is rated PG and received the Dove Seal of Approval.
