‘Happy Go Hopscotch’ Holiday Special Greenlit for 2018

Kinomind Films and Meta Media Entertainment have greenlit a new animated seasonal special Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree, to be delivered in time for a Christmas 2018 broadcast debut. Based on the 2017 book of the same name from author Katy Segrove and illustrated by Katerina Vykhodtseva (Tiny Tree Children’s Books, UK), the heart-warming story of Hopscotch, a happy horse, and her animal friendsy is grounded in the Science of Happiness and aims to teach children that they can solve problems by staying positive.

YLE, the national broadcaster of Finland (topping the 2018 World Happiness Report index, appropriately), is among the main broadcasters to acquire the special. The half-hour program has also presold to V-Me (US Hispanic), RTV (Slovakia), ERR (Estonia), LTV (Latvia) and LRT (Lithuania) for TV, and to KMBO Films for theatrical, video, TV and VOD across French-speaking Europe.

“We are delighted to launch the Happy Go Hopscotch brand with this Christmas special,” commented Inesa Ivanova, producer and founder of Kinomind Films. “We hope children will find the Hopscotch world thoroughly entertaining and inspiring. Parents will also love it, because it’s teaching their children Positive Psychology!”

Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is produced by Kinomind Films with backing from the Lithuanian Film Centre and co-produced by Ink and Light, who have bases in Finland and Ireland. The special is distributed worldwide by Meta Media Entertainment, a London-based distributor specializing in high quality children’s animation series.

Meta Media will be presenting the Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree to further broadcasters at MIPTV. A Happy Go Hopscotch series is currently in development to follow, thanks to funding awarded from Creative Europe.
