The 7th annual General Membership Meeting for the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Educators Forum has been scheduled for May 5 at The Animation Guild in Burbank, CA. From noon to 5 p.m., attendees can take in a full afternoon of discussions, screenings, and the chance to catch up with colleagues. This year’s theme is “Where the Jobs Are: Mapping the Expanding Universe of Animation Employment.”
This special focus will address the ever-expanding universe of animation employment, from opportunities in big Hollywood studios to newly hatched positions in online streaming services, virtual reality and other emerging technologies.
The highlight of the afternoon will be a panel discussion on prominent employment trends featuring acclaimed writer-director Jorge R. Gutiérrez, Animation Guild Director of Communications and Culture Brooke Keesling, animator/character designer Tony Bancroft and story artist Ennio Torreson.
The group will also be reviewing the AEF’s activity in 2017, with exciting presentations from some of our past Student Scholarship winners — applications are now open for the 2018-19 scholarship program.
