Comedy Central Inks Short-Form Pact with Bento Box

The studio behind Emmy-winning animated comedy Bob’s Burgers, Bento Box Entertainment has signed a non-exclusive digital development deal with Comedy Central as the network continues its renewed push into more animated content.

Bento Box’s creative director Ben Jones, formerly of Fox’s ADHD and creator of Adult Swim’s Neon Knome and Cartoon Network’s Problem Solverz, will be the company’s lead executive on the projects.

The team-up will see Bento Box develop and produce short-form series for digital and social platforms, including Facebook Watch and YouTube, in collaboration with rising comedy talents pegged by the network. The deal also gives the studio first opportunity rights to animate and executive produce projects that Comedy Central picks up for linear TV series.

Bento Box previously produced Brickleberry and Legends of Chamberlain Heights for Comedy Central. The studio’s credits also include last fall’s SNL spin-off The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special for NBC and upcoming Netflix series Paradise P.D.
