Home audiences can immerse themselves in an incredible virtual universe all over again when Steven Spielberg’s gameworld action-adventure Ready Player One arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack ($44.95), Blu-ray Combo Pack ($35.99), DVD ($28.98) and VOD on July 24, preceded by a Digital HD release July 3.
Based on the bestselling novel by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One is set in the harsh world of 2045. The only time Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) truly feels alive is when he escapes to the OASIS, an immersive virtual universe where most of humanity spend their days. In the OASIS, you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone — the only limits are your own imagination. The OASIS was created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance), who left his immense fortune and total control of the OASIS to the winner of a three-part contest he designed to find a worthy heir. When Wade conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends — known as the High Five — are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS and their world.
The film also stars Olivia Cooke and Ben Mendelsohn, with Lena Waithe, T.J. Miller, Philip Zhao, Win Morisaki, Hannah John-Kamen and Simon Pegg. Spielberg directed and produced from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Cline. Also producing were Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah, with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris deFaria and Bruce Berman as exec producers.
