Trailer: ‘Luis and the Aliens’ Crash Lands with Viva, DIRECTV

European CG family flick Luis and the Aliens has abducted more distribution partners! The film sci-fi comedy has caught the eye of DIRECTV, which will present an early On Demand release on July 19; and by Viva Pictures, which is planning a limited theatrical and On Demand rollout on August 17. Viva has also released the film’s English-language trailer, which you can watch below.

One of the stand-out projects presented at Cartoon Movie this year, the film has also sold to Warner Bros. UK for theatrical distribution, by Germany-based sales agency Global Screen.

Luis and the Aliens centers on a tweenage boy who doesn’t share his UFO-obsessed father’s belief in alien life — until three quirky ETs crash land in his yard. In exchange for helping the squishy creatures collect the as-seen-on-TV products they’ve come for, Luis enlists their help to avoid boarding school, kicking off a crazy adventure.

Lending their voices to the English-language version are Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), Lea Thompson (Little Women), Franciska Friede (Spy Kids: Mission Critical), Orlando Leyba (Uproarious) and Joey Guila (The Nutshack).

The film is directed by Oscar winners Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein (Balance) and Sean McCormack, written by the Lauensteins with additional work by Joe Vitale and Jeffrey Hylton. Luis and the Aliens is a production of Ulysses Films, Fabrique d’Images and A. Film Productions.
