Squeeze’s ‘Cracké’ Hatches Over 100 Million Views Online

Quebec-based studio Squeeze announced today that its animated series Cracké has registered over 100 million views on YouTube and partner platforms in various territories, including the U.S. and China.

“From the beginning, we knew it was important that the series be distributed on digital platforms,” notes Denis Doré, president and cofounder of Squeeze. “This strategy naturally lines up with our vision and the global deployment plan for our franchise. Youth spend 72% of their time viewing content on digital platforms, and 69% of 7–12-year-olds are exposed to visual content on electronic devices like tablets and smartphones.”

He adds that when demand, distribution platforms and high-quality content combine, there are no limits for developing an original property: “This original creation is short—only one minute—and doesn’t contain dialogue, making it perfect for this type of platform. And since the humor we use is universal, we can draw a huge audience. This is just the beginning of Cracké’s wacky adventures.”

The CG-animated series, created by Squeeze’s Québec City studios, features Ed, an over-anxious ostrich dad who will do anything to protect his precious eggs from the dangers of a harsh world. However, he doesn’t always use the best approach, leading him into dangerous but funny situations.

Cracké aires in 210 territories around the world. Squeeze is currently working on a second season of the show, which is expected to be released in fall 2019. The new episodes will run for 3 minutes instead of 1, allowing creators to pace Ed’s adventures differently and include more complex scenes.
