The 2018 winners of Cuernavaca, Mexico’s El Festival event for students, professionals and fans of animation, comics and video games — presented by Pixelatl — were recognized over the weekend.
In addition to prize winners and special recognitions for TV series, shorts, student films and comic, the special Chinelo in Animation career achievement award was given to Pixar director Lee Unkrich (Coco). Further, the winning female-created project of the Girl Power: Pitch Me the Future competition, presented in partnership with Cartoon Network, was The Forgotten Forest (El Bosque Olvidado) by Madelein Treviño from Nuevo León, Mexico — earning the artist series pilot production costs up to $10,000 USD.
