On October 10, WIA members (join here) can take part in this illuminating panel and discussion held at the SPA lot in Culver City. Moderated by Karen Toliver (SVP Creative Affairs, Sony Pictures Animation), attendees will hear from Denise Koyama (story artist at SPA, three-time Annie nominee and Daytime Emmy nominee), Carole Holliday (feature film & TV storyboard artist and character designer), Lindsey Olivares (production designer & lead character designer on SPA’s 2020 original The MItchells vs. The Machines), Sofia E. Alexander (animator & storyboard artist), and Tiffany Ford (storyboard artist, Craig of the Creek; director, Big City Greens) about their experiences in the biz.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: CEE Animation Workshop
The year-long program of training, project development and networking for producers and creatives from low-production-capacity countries in Central & Eastern Europe is seeking short film, feature and series projects to participate. The submission period goes until October 22. The three workshops are scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 6 in Ljubljana, Slovenia; March 20-26 (location TBC); and May 3-9 in Trebon, Czech Rep.
‘Moss’ Announced as Launch Title for Oculus Quest VR Headset
At the Oculus Connect 5 event in San Jose, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed in his keynote that Polyarc’s acclaimed action-adventure puzzle game will be one of the first incredible worlds for players to explower when the untethered tech becomes available in Spring 2019. It was also revealed that Oculus Rift players can now unlock two unique items to decorate their virtual Oculus Home: a virtual Moss poster by Ryan DeMita (unlockable by ascending the castle) and a virtual Quill figurine (give her a high five in-game).
John Cassaday Named Chief Creative Officer of Humanoids
The graphic novels publisher behind The Incal and Life Drawn has appointed Eisner-winning artist Cassaday (I Am Legion) as its first CCO. Further, Eisner-winning writer Mark Waid (Daredevil, Superman: Birthright) has been appointed Director of Creative Development.
The publisher will unveil a major publishing initiative during its 20th Anniversary in America panel during New York Comic-Con on Oct. 5 (1:30-2:30 p.m., Rm. 1A02 Javits Center).

Rob Paulsen sings a new verse from the cult-classic Animaniacs song “Yakko’s World,” which accounts for all the changes and countries formed in the past 25 years (around the 2:31 mark). Paulsen and his longtime series costar, Jess Harnell, guest on the Fine Brothers “React” to watch a group of kids react to the classic cartoon. Paulsen also teases the upcoming reboot, and shares some behind the scenes secrets!

The stellar VO cast also includes Mark Hamill (The Joker), Kevin Conroy (Batman), Fred Tatasciore (Clayface, Doomsday, Killer Croc), Gina Torres (Superwoman), Brandon Routh (Shazam), Gilbert Gottfried (Mister Mxyzptlk), Mark Rolston (Deathstroke), and Scott Porter (Aquaman), among many others. The game will be playable at New York Comic Con in the DC booth this week.
