Organizers of the GLAS Animation Festival — which is holding its 4th edition March 21-24, 2019 in Berkeley, California — have announced a first round of special guests, as well as the Signal Film directed by Manshen Lo and featuring music and sound by Skillbard.
Adding to what is sure to be a wonderfully eclectic film competition and special program lineup will be the presence of acclaimed artists and filmmakers. Confirmed so far are Oscar-nominated director Koji Yamamura (Mt. Head), Canadian animator Michèle Cournoyer, Dennis Tupicoff (GLAS ‘18 Special Mention for A Photo of Me), Marc James Roels (This Magnificent Cake!), Julia Pott (Summer Camp Island), Chicago’s “anti-Disney” Jim Trainor (The Bats), 3D artist/animator Kim Laughton, Christy Karacas (Ballmastrz: 9009), Vimeo curator Meghan Oretsky, Miyu Distribution CEO Luce Grosjean, and Irene Kotlarz (animation producer, He Named Me Malala).

Manshen Lo is a visual artist living in London. Her approach to drawing has roots in East Asia, whilst taking influence from comic art, cinematography and the ligne-claire style. Combining realistic line work with minimalistic compositions, she investigates the subtle tension between humans and urban space in contemporary life.
Vincent and Tom are at the head of Studio Skillbard, a friendly team of composers and sound designers based in London. They have experience in film, television, games, sound art, pop music, sonic branding and all-out having a good time with sound & music.
