U.K.-based preschool learning and entertainment app Hopster is launching a second season of its hit animated original series Two Minute Tales in February. The 10 new episodes will underline the platform’s mission of challenging traditional gender norms and promoting diversity.
Launched in August 2018, Two Minute Tales is a quirky 2D series offering a surprising alternative to the traditional Grimm tales presented in snappy two-minute episodes. Encouraged by the success of the series, Hopster developed the second season to
offer even more traditional stories in a new light, relevant in this day and age.
Accordingly, the new season will celebrate diversity as well as feature alternative families. The story of “The Very Competitive Mermaid” will feature same-sex parents, while “The Little Wooden Boy” – an episode based on Pinocchio – will encourage children to be inclusive and accept each other’s differences.
“Part of our mission at Hopster is challenging stereotypes, offering inclusive content, and representing all types of people and families. This was a big focus for us when developing the new Two Minute Tales episodes,” said Ellen Solberg, Content Lead at Hopster and Executive Producer of Two Minute Tales. “We have loved working with The Consortium of Gentlemen, who have developed the most imaginative and creative stories, which are fun but also teach kids important morals and life lessons.”
Like the first season, Season 2 of Two Minute Tales was commissioned by Hopster Studios and produced by the Cheshire-based animation production company, The Consortium of Gentlemen. It will launch on Hopster in February in a themed area dedicated to Two Minute Tales that will include both the first and second season of the show.
