Jim Gallagher Appointed WB EVP of Marketing, Animation & Family

Jim Gallagher has joined Warner Bros. Pictures, taking on the newly-created role of Executive Vice President of Marketing, Animation & Family. Gallagher, formerly head of theatrical marketing for DreamWorks Animation, will develop innovative and strategic global campaigns for WB’s slate of animated and hybrid-animation family films.

The hire was announced by Blair Rich, President of Worldwide Marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, to whom Gallagher will report.

“Jim is a highly regarded animation and family marketing executive who’s incredibly creative and has an enviable track record,” said Rich. “As we expand our activities in this space, we’ll look to his experience and recognized expertise to help us reach the broadest audiences for these films with strategic, globally relevant marketing campaigns. I’m excited for Jim to join us, and I know he will be an incredible addition to our Warner Bros. team.”

Most recently, Gallagher oversaw marketing for DWA’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, which leveraged strong franchise awareness and a number of creative promotions to reach $512 million worldwide so far. His DWA projects also included The Boss Baby, Trolls and Home. Prior to DreamWorks, Gallagher spent 14 years at The Walt Disney Company, where he was President of Marketing from 2006-2010 and handled all Disney Studios, Pixar and Touchstone Pictures movies.

WB’s upcoming animation and hybrid theatrical release slate includes Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (May 10), Scoob (May 15, 2020), Wacky Races (July 17, 2020), Looney Tunes (December 25, 2021), Tom & Jerry (April 16, 2021), DC Super Pets (May 21, 2021), Space Jam 2 (July 16, 2021) and Minecraft (March 4, 2022).
