Netflix has renewed its popular animation anthology series Love, Death + Robots for a second season. In addition, it was announced via twitter than Oscar-winning director Jennifer Yu Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3, The Darkest Minds, Spawn) has joined the project as supervising director and will oversee all episodes of the show.
Produced by Joshua Donen, David Fincher, Jennifer Miller and Tim Miller, the first season of the show was released in March. Each episode was animated by different crews from various countries. It’s billed as a re-imagining of Fincher and Miller’s long in-development reboot of the 1981 sci fi film Heavy Metal. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Topher Grace, Gary Cole, Maurice LaMarche, Samira Wiley and Stefan Kapicic were part of the first season cast.
Each one of the 18 episodes of the first season were under 20 minutes long and were produced by different cast and crews. Blur Studio, Blow Studio, Pinkman.TV,Studio La Cachette, Unit Image, Red Dog Culture House, Able & Baker, Axis Studios, Platige Image, Sony Pictures ImageWorks, Passion Pictures, Elena Volk, Digic Pictures, Atomic Fiction and Sun Creature Studio were among the producing studios.
