Apple TV+ has struck a deal with The Jim Henson Company to produce a rebooted Fraggle Rock series, bringing the ’80s children’s puppet classic into the 21st century with all-new underground adventures. Apple has also snagged streaming rights to the full 96-episode series back catalog, the tech giant confirmed Tuesday on Twitter.

The rebooted full-length series and classic 1983-1987 episodes chronicling the adventures of Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley and Uncle Travelling Matt (all returning for the new show) complement the platform’s short-form series, Fraggle Rock: Rock On! The mini-sodes produced remotely due to the COVID-19 crises launched last month; a star-studded finale featuring Alanis Morisette, Common, Tiffany Haddish, Neil Patrick Harris, Ziggy Marley and Jason Mraz premiered Tuesday.
Apple TV+ will drop the Fraggle Rock back catalog for subscribers in 100 countries on Wednesday, May 27.
The new series of Fraggle Rock is being produced by The Jim Henson Co. (exec producers Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford) in association with New Regency (exec producers Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer). Long-time Henson collaborator John Tartaglia (Splash and Bubbles, Fraggle Rock: Rock On!) is also executive producing, along with showrunners/writers/EPs Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson (American Dad!). Rita Peruggi (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Yo Gabba Gabba!) is the producer. Harvey Mason Jr. is executive music producer for the series.
