Sesame Workshop, Guru Studio Team for Animated ‘Sesame Street’ Spin-Off

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, and Guru Studio, a leader in children’s entertainment, are teaming up on the beloved property’s animated spin-off, Mecha Builders (working title). The series features favorite Sesame Street characters as heroes in a robot-animation style, and will air in the U.S. on HBO Max.

“We’re thrilled to be working on such timeless and beloved classic characters with the amazing team at Sesame Workshop,” said Frank Falcone, President and Executive Creative Director at Guru Studio.

“With Guru Studio’s masterful animated storytelling, we’re going beyond the Sesame Street neighborhood with a new take on our iconic brand,” said Kay Wilson Stallings, Head of Development and Production at Sesame Workshop.

Production for Mecha Builders begins this month.

Guru Studio is a creative-driven entertainment company renowned for creating, developing and producing internationally acclaimed and highly successful shows including its premier Netflix Original preschool series, True and the Rainbow Kingdom (now in its fourth season); PAW Patrol, the #1 U.S. preschool series and consumer products phenomenon produced in collaboration with Spin Master and Nick Jr.; Mattel’s Ever After High; and its own two-time Emmy-nominated preschool original Justin Time. Guru Studio also contributed visual development for the “story world” sequences in the Academy Award-nominated The Breadwinner.
