The latest addition to Netflix’s growing original animation lineup, Ryan Crego’s tuneful 2D feature Arlo the Alligator Boy, makes its streaming premiere today (Friday, April 16). In case you weren’t already sold on the cinema-quality visuals, pedigree voice cast and heartwarming message about finding one’s family, perhaps this sweet new clip about the budding of Arlo and Bertie’s BFF-ship will do the trick!
Upon learning that he is from New York City, Arlo, a wide-eyed boy who is half human and half alligator, decides to leave his sheltered life in the swamp and search for his long lost father. The animated musical movie will launch Arlo’s journey as he meets a group of misfits who quickly become his new family. Once Arlo’s adventure lands him in New York City, the upcoming series I Heart Arlo will kick off as he and his newfound crew set up shop in an abandoned seaside neighborhood and help bring it back to life.
The movie and series feature the voices of Michael J. Woodard (Arlo), Mary Lambert (Bertie), Michael “Flea” Balzary of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Ruff), Annie Potts (Edmee), Tony Hale (Teeny Tiny Tony), Brett Gelman (Marcellus), Jonathan Van Ness (Furlecia), Haley Tju (Alia), Jennifer Coolidge (Stucky) and Vincent Rodriguez III (Ansel Beauregard).
Alongside the premiere today, Capitol Records is releasing the original soundtrack Arlo the Alligator Boy: Music from the Netflix Film. The songs are written by Crego and multi-award-winning songwriter/composer Alex Geringas (Fast & Furious Spy Racers, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, All Hail King Julien).
