Trio of ‘Demon Slayer’ Specials Hit Funimation Ahead of Movie Debut

Ahead of the U.S. theatrical debut of smash-hit Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train on April 23, Funimation marked Anime Day with the launch of three TV specials from the series. Previously available only via Japanese broadcast, these episodes are now available subtitled and dubbed in English through Funimation’s partnership with Aniplex of America.

Launching today at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Sibling’s Bond, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mt. Natagumo Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Hashira Meeting Arc (Special Cut) recap the first 26 episodes of the series — and include some new footage — making them the perfect catch-up watch before diving into Mugen Train for fans of the show, or introduction to the Tanjiro’s story for new viewers.

The specials can be found on the Funimation platform in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Ireland and on Animelab in Australia and New Zealand. Upcoming Spanish and Portuguese subtitled versions will also be available in Mexico and Brazil on Funimation.

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series, streaming on Funimation both subtitled and dubbed, premiered in 2019 and is based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga (Jump Comics/Shueisha), which boasts over 150 million copies in circulation in Japan. The action-packed, thrilling tale follows a young man living at the turn of the 20th century in Japan as he searches for a cure for his sister, who has been turned into a demon after their family is viciously slaughtered by demons. The series and the new movie are produced by studio ufotable.
