The world of The Witcher expands in a new anime origin story this month, as Netflix debuts The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf worldwide on August 23. The official trailer for this standalone movie debuted today:
Before Geralt, there was his mentor, Vesemir — a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin. But when a strange new monster begins terrorizing a politically-fraught kingdom, Vesemir finds himself on a frightening adventure that forces him to confront the demons of his past…
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is written and produced by Beau DeMayo and co-produced by The Witcher showrunner/executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Studio Mir’s Kwang Il Han, who is also directing.
The English-language voice cast stars Theo James (Caslevania, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Divergent films) reprising his Witcher stint as young Vesemir, Lara Pulver (Dota: Dragon’s Blood, The Alienist, AMC’s upcoming Pantheon) as Tetra, Graham McTavish (Castlevania, Outlander, The Witcher‘s Dijkstra) as Deglan and Mary McDonnell (Fargo, The Closer, Battlestar Galactica) as Lady Zerbst.
