Smack dab in the Dog Days of Summer, it’s Snoopy’s Birthday today (August 10)! The Peanuts gang is toasting their beagle buddy with a new animated short demonstrating the proper pet care for a VIP (Very Important Pooch). Part of the “Take Care with Peanuts” initiative, Friends, Big and Small shows that “take care of each other” includes your pets.
Available in 11 languages, the new short encourages the loving care of family furry friends, as Charlie Brown and Snoopy demonstrate in their own inimitable ways. In the process, Charlie Brown’s little sister, Sally, learns about the responsibilities — and the rewards — of taking care of a pet.
In addition to the Friends, Big and Small short, Peanuts is providing human caregivers a people- and dog-friendly birthday cake recipe, so everyone can join in the celebration. Other family-friendly activities available for download include simple instructions for creating homemade dog toys with supplies readily available at home; cut-out black sunglasses perfect for creating your own “Joe Cool” look; and multiple suggestions for helping animals in your community.
“Take Care with Peanuts” is an international initiative that promotes good global citizenship through three themes: Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Take care of the Earth.
