Toronto-based Bejuba! Entertainment has acquired distribution rights for 10 x 13′ / 5 x half-hour series Lisa and Kolos. Aimed at ages six and up, the new show from French studio Melting Productions about a fish-out-of-water hero in a whimsical, conflict-free world has been greenlit by Canal+; delivery is set for July 2023.
The mini-series is a comical, animated romp through an idyllic rainbow and butterfly world where two arch nemeses from another planet race to get off it. In his quest to return home, superhero Kolos, man of brawn and … well, brawn … teams up with adorable Lisa, a dewy-eyed bunny. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger.
“The format is different and the premise, funny. That’s what drew us to the property,” noted Tatiana Kober, President of Bejuba!
“I wanted to play with the idea of what would happen if a villain and hero from a stereotypical superhero world land in a world of rainbows, butterflies and naïveté … but also of love and friendship,” said Florent Guimberteau, President of Melting Productions. “I wanted to create a comedy with soul and cliffhangers.”
Synopsis: Kolos, a stereotypical hero, is sent by an evil overlord, Zardos, to the planet of Tchoukitty — a world of rainbows and butterflies and NO conflict. Inadvertently and unbeknownst to Kolos, Zardos also lands in this world. Lisa, the town’s problem solver, is tasked with getting Kolos to the Queen in the Land of Rainbows to have his wish granted to get back to his world. The race between Zardos on the one side and Kolos and Lisa on the other is on — who will reach the Land of Rainbows first?
