Finnish animation, publishing and licensing studio Ferly today announced that international distribution company Superights will act as global distributor for preschool series, Momolu and Friends.
“We are very proud to welcome Momolu and his friends to our catalog,” said Nathalie Pinguet, Deputy General Manager at Superights. “We have been totally captivated by the subtle, unique mix between the artistic and edutainment aspect of the programme, confirming its originality on the market. Momolu and Friends will complete our line-up adding something fresh to our available content.”
A co-production with Canada-based Yellow Animation (The Angry Birds Movie) and Belgium’s Digital Graphics (Anna & Friends, Billy the Cowboy Hamster), the Superights deal marks the continued international expansion of the Momolu brand following its other recent commissions by ITV (U.K.), TVOKids (Canada), Knowledge (Canada), YLE (Finland), and SRC (Société Radio Canada). The distribution deal excludes German speaking territories, Finland, Norway, Benelux and Canada.

Momolu and Friends is a 2D animated series with a diverse cast of characters. It follows Momolu — a gentle, unassuming panda with a knack for stumbling into funny situations requiring his help. Each episode helps teach children how to problem-solve through art and design, manage challenges and to work together to find solutions. The series promotes a love of arts and crafts in young audiences, applying humour while also introducing them to important socio-emotional lessons.
The IP was originally created by design specialist and arts educator Leena Fredriksson.
As the latest brand extension, Momolu and Friends joins Momolu Minis, 41 episodes of short form animation visible on YouTube, Kidoodle.TV and Playkids. Also in the Momolu universe is the Momolu Learning Game, available globally on Nintendo Switch. As well as Momolu Minis Music on U.S. children’s audio network Pinna.FM, a series of Audiobook Originals with global audiobook platform Storytel, and Momolu ebooks are available on multiple reading platforms including U.S.-based Epic!. Also in the pipeline is a global toy range with toyco United Smile.
Founded in 2017 by former Rovio Executives, Ferly is headquartered in Helsinki with teams working in Vancouver, L.A. and Stockholm. Other worksk include Angry Birds Blues and Angry Birds Bad Piggies. Ferly also represents LOL Surprise, Angry Birds, Masha & The Bear, Molang, Cup of Therapy and other brands. Several projects are in development, including long and short form content with gaming entertainment company Star Stable.
