Human Ark, a Warsaw-based production studio, is just celebrating its 15th anniversary by making a few changes: Human – the company’s new, streamlined name – is updating its visual identity and expanding its business strategy.
“Human Ark is now Human. We simplified the name because Human is the quintessence of this company. This one word describes our strategy in the best way. In our everyday activities, we focus on people – because the company is created by them,” explained CEO Maks Sikora. “Strategically, we want to give a clear signal about a wider range of our services. We are not just an animation studio that does high-quality advertising. The Human offer includes a whole spectrum of post-production and VFX services that allow to work on all forms of film, from commercials, through music videos and campaigns, to series and feature films.”
Operating on the Polish and international production market for over a decade, Human’s team of over 50 animators, graphic designers, programmers and producers creates digital special effects as well as 2D and 3D animations for the world of film, advertising and art. The studio’s services also include comprehensive post-production services. In recent years, the company has carried out advertising projects for clients from Europe and Asia. Major projects for which Human creates special effects include Broad Peak, a movie based on the true story of the legendary Polish mountaineer Maciej Berbeka, and drama series High Water, produced by Telemark, both of which are headed to Netflix.
Human is distinguished by the high quality of character animation, the ability to create complex visual effects and the high artistic value of the productions. Now, the Human headquarters has grown by another floor: The new post-production facility is equipped with off-line, online, DI and color grading in a cinema working space. Moreover, in 2018 Human entered into a partnership with the Czech producer PFX; an experienced, 120-person team, headquartered, among others, in the iconic Barrandov Studios in Prague. The studios support each other in advertising and film projects. PFX is also the co-producer of Diplodocus – Human’s original production.
“We are currently producing the first 3D animated film on such a scale in Poland. Thanks to participation in foreign fairs, festivals and conferences, we understood that Diplodocus is a film with great international potential. We met many people from the industry who helped us and supported us during the preparatory period. At Cartoon Movie, we found a partner for the film – PFX,” commented Wjotek Wawszczyk,, director of Diplodocus and Art Director of Human. “As an organization, we are at a time when such cooperation is part of the development and the new strategy of the studio. We have been on the market for 15 years, it is a very important moment for us.”
“In addition, of course, we continue to focus on high-end advertising and
advanced visuals in movies and TV series,” Wawszczyk added. “We are constantly looking for new creative ideas. We are at an advanced stage of work on Diplodocus, but knowing how long it takes to develop our own
production, we are already thinking of the new titles. In addition, we are looking for new collaborations in the field of film – both service and co production. Regardless of whether the project is commercial or fictional, we see a film in every form – this approach determines the way we think and act in Human.”
