After bringing on former WarnerMedia exec Cecilia Persson as its new Managing Director of Childrens as of January 1, BBC Studios is beginning a major restructure of its Kids & Family division, bringing activities together into one team under one shingle and budget to pursue growth in its animation offerings as well as drama and preschool content.
The branch will have five core focuses on Business, Commercial, Development, Production and Content Strategy, and it succrently seeking three new top executives for respective helms. The company is now advertising for a Head of Content Strategy, Head of Commercial and Vice President/Creative Director of Development. Persson will detail these newly-created positions during her MIPCOM keynote address in October.
The Kids & Family division relocated within BBC’s commercial arm at the end of last year, freeing the studios up to create programs for outside buyers across broadcast, pay TV and streaming. The label produces the CBBC evergreen Blue Peter and CBeebies’ breakout animated series JoJo & Gran Gran, and dsitributes global kids’ hits like Hey Duggee and Bluey.
