Moley creator James Reatchlous has launched a new production company named Two Daughters Entertainment and tapped Oscar-winning producer and former DreamWorks co-president Bonnie Arnold (How to Train Your Dragon movies) as exec producer. Arnold and the rest of the team, which includes producer Tony Nottage (Saving Santa, Moley), director Leon Joosen (Space Jam, Muppet Babies) and head of marketing and PR Andreea Spasova (Warner Media) will be working on three undisclosed properties which will have “similar cinematographic and talent quality as Moley,” per the company ‘s press release.
At the same time, the company also announced the kids and family distributor, Jetpack Distribution has signed a deal with China’s largest digital and new media distributor Jetsen Huashi and with Polish public service broadcaster TVP for the animated series Moley. The acquisition includes the linear, digital and video-on-demand (VOD) rights to distribute the animated series Moley, to all the main TV and digital platforms across China. It will be broadcast in Chinese Mandarin and English languages.
Originally the brainchild of entrepreneur James Reatchlous, Moley started as a bedtime story for his two daughters. Targeted at preschoolers and their families, Reatchlous was determined to bring Moley “to millions of children worldwide.” The CG-animated series follows the adventures of a charming and optimistic mole who lives deep in a burrow under Windsor Castle. The stellar voice cast includes Warwick Davis, Gemma Arterton, Stanley Tucci, Julie Walters, Charles Dance and Richard E. Grant. The award-winning show now airs in over 140 countries and is shown on Warner Media’s channel Boomerang across EMEA.
“I never dreamed that the bedtime story I told my two daughters would come to life and turn out to be such a success,” says Reacthlous. “I am very proud of how far we have come with Moley and very excited to now work on three more animated shows which I think will really surprise and wow the industry.”
