Teaser: ‘Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared’ Brings Existential Puppet Terror to Channel 4 Sept. 12

Eleven years since the YouTube shorts first caused a viral sensation, Red Guy, Yellow Guy and Duck are back in brand new installments of Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared — and this time, they’ll be inside your TV. Six new episodes will begin rolling out on Channel 4’s All 4 in the U.K. on September 12.

Created by directing duo Becky & Joe (Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling) of Blinkink with collaborator Baker Terry, the original web series has racked up a quarter of a billion views since launching in 2011. The new TV show produced by Blink Industries will continue the puppet roommates’ surreal learning journey in sunny Clayhill, with the help of some friendly talking objects and a pinch of creeping dread.

As Blink describes it, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared is “a mixed media trip that moves from kids’ show pastiche to fever dream horror in the blink of an eye. Think The Muppet Show relocated to Twin Peaks.”

You can catch up on the original Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared shorts on the show’s YouTube channel ahead of the new series peremiere Sept. 12.
