Viva Kids has picked up U.S. distribution rights to Argonuts, the latest CG-animated feature from Toulouse, France-based TAT Productions. Titled Pattie et la colère de Poséidon in French (Pattie and the Wrath of Poseidon), the film is a family adventure set in the magical, yet hostile, world of Greek mythology. Kinology is handling worldwide sales.
Argonuts follows a super smart and adventurous young mouse named Pattie and her feline companion, Sam, who are swept up on an adventure with the legendary hero Jason and his Argonauts as they face the most bizarre and dangerous creatures out of myth and save their prosperous port city from Poseidon himself.
The film is led by The Jungle Bunch director David Alaux and producer Jean-François Tosti, who both co-founded TAT productions with writer Éric Tosti in 2000. Argonuts premiered at the Cinémed festival in Montpellier in October, and is due to open in France on January 25.
Viva Kids previously distributed TAT’s Terra Willy (2020) and Pil’s Adventures (2022), the latter of which grossed $6.8 million worldwide and was the top-performing French film abroad last year. According to TAT, Argonuts marks its most ambitious production to date. You can check out a behind-the-scenes video recently released by Région Occitanie below.
Argonuts joins a busy theatrical slate for Viva Kids, which is bringing The Amazing Maurice to U.S. cinemas in January, followed by Dragon Keeper, Zombie Town and the recently announced sequel 200% Wolf.
