Four Animated Features to Compete for BAFTA Film Awards

The nominations for this year’s BAFTA Film Awards were announced earlier today. Only four animated features will be competing for the BAFTA Film Awards this year.

The four titles Nominate For Best Animated Film BAFTA are

  • Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio Guillermo Del Toro, Mark Gustafson, Gary Ungar, Alex Bulkley (Netflix)
  • Marcel The Shell With Shoes On Dean Fleisher Camp, Andrew Goldman, Elisabeth Holm, Caroline Kaplan, Paul Mezey (A24)
  • Puss In Boots: The Last Wish Joel Crawford, Mark Swift (DreamWorks/Universal)
  • Turning Red Domee Shi, Lindsey Collins (Disney/Pixar)

Guillermo  del Toro’s Pinocchio was also nominated for its original score by Alexandre Desplat.

In the Special Visual Effects category, the nominees are:

  • All Quiet On The Western Front. Markus Frank, Kamil Jafar, Viktor Müller, Frank Petzoid
  • Avatar: The Way of Water. Richard Baneham, Daniel Barrett, Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon
  • The Batman. Russell Earl, Dan Lemmon, Anders Langlands, Dominic Tuohy
  • Everything Everywhere All At Once. Benjamin Brewer, Ethan Feldbau, Jonathan Kombrinck, Zak Stoltz
  • Top Gun: Maverick. Seth Hill, Scott R. Fisher, Bryan Litson, Ryan Tudhope

The British Short Animation nominees are

  • The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. Peter Baynton, Charlie Mackesy, Cara Speller, Hannah Minghella
  • Middle Watch. John Stevenson, Aiesha Penwarden, Giles Healy
  • Your Mountain Is Waiting. Hannah Jacobs, Zoe Muslim, Harriet Gillian

    The BAFTA Animated Short nominees are (from left): Your Mountain Is Waiting, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and Middle Watch.

The winners will be announced at the 76th edition of the BAFTAs, hosted by actor Richard E. Grant on Sunday, Feb. 19th at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
