In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Robert Kirkman comic book’s first issue, Prime Video has unveiled a special video that reveals the highly anticipated second season of its hit adult toon Invincible is coming in “late 2023.” The comic’s official anniversary is January 22; the title ran through Skybound/Image from 2003-2018.
The clip shared across social feeds catches up with Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun) and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) at the ol’ Burger mart, where our hero reveals he’s been “busy” — and gives us a fun behind-the-scenes style montage of a chibi-fied Invincible hard at work to produce the next season!
Invincible premiered on Prime Video in March of 2021, with a double-season renewal announced on the eve of the S1 finale.
The series revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (voiced by J.K. Simmons). But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.
Invincible S1 also starred Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Zachary Quinto, Mahershala Ali, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin, Khary Payton and others.
