Spanish production studio Zinkia will attend Kidscreen Summit 2023 (Feb. 12-16) with a renewed content catalog. At the Miami event, the company will introduce one of its new animation projects: Ghost Bros. The 53 x 11′ series, created by Yellow Kingdom (Chorch Edelstein) and WeDoo Studio (Emi Ordás), is aimed at kids 6-8.
Synopsis: Ghost Bros approaches the concepts of family and happiness through the exciting story of two orphan siblings, Sigmund and Gretchel. After being adopted by a dysfunctional family, they experience hilarious adventures while seeking to ensure that every member is happy, since otherwise they will have to return to the terrible place from which they escaped: the Great Beyond.
Zinkia will also be previewing the fifth season of its hit series Pocoyo at the market. Season 5 will feature significant changes to the toon and introduce new characters, including Pocoyo’s sister, Pocoyina.
Pocoyo is currently celebrating his 20th anniversary. Over two decades, he has starred in four seasons of the TV series (over 200 episodes), as well as the short Pocoyo and the Space Circus, 80+ songs and music videos, and multiple specials. One of the most notable episodes is “Dragon Island,” a coproduction with the Tourism Board of Gran Canaria, in which Pocoyo left his white universe for the very first time to visit this Canary Island.
“Dragon Island” is nominated for the 2023 Kidscreen Award for Best Holiday or Special Episode, alongside “Holiday Goose Chase” from Madagascar: A Little Wild (DreamWorks Animation) and “Martin Luther King Jr. Day” from Sesame Street (Sesame Workshop, HBO Max).
The 20-year-old studio continues to develop other new IP in its portfolio. One of these is Yanco, Dina and the Dinosaurs, which champions environmental protection and wildlife conservation from an original perspective for audiences aged 6-8. Another is Bumpy: the Bear, a series that is being co-produced with Spanish national broadcaster RTVE, which is expected to launch next spring.
