Meta Media Entertainment has announced a second season of Rookie the Robot Explores the World (26 x 3′) is now in production, with the first 13 episodes due to for delivery in June 2023, followed by the next 13 in December 2023. “Created by kids for kids,” all the characters in this non-dialog preschool series are based on original line drawings by real kids.
The series is created and produced in Vienna by Sine Lege Film in cooperation with Leiss Postproduction.
“The aim of the show is to encourage our little ones to be (and stay) curious, creative and social,” says Josef Pallwein-Prettner, producer at Sine Lege Film. “By using original kids’ drawings, we ‘speak their universal language’ and emphasize that we can all learn from each other.”
Meta Media recently took over worldwide distribution for the series and has already licensed Season 1 to NRK Norway, ERR Estonia, Filmin Spain and Filmin Portugal. This follows previous sales to Daekyo Kids TV, Daekyo Baby TV, ORF Austria/Flimmit and Canadian Knowledge Network.
Synopsis: Follow the adventures of a curious and friendly little bot named Rookie as he explores the world, meets new friends and experiences exciting adventures. From helping a hoarse lion find his roar to learning to jump into the sea under instructions from a lifeguard turtle or keeping the environment clean by collecting plastic bags very playfully, each episode teaches Rookie a little more more about the world around him and inspires young viewers to do the same.
The series encourages curiosity and highlights important values like patience, perseverance and respect for all individuals as well as for our planet. Rookie’s encounters focus on openness and empathy, showing with a funny twist that we are all stronger together. And with each episode, Rookie learns a little more about the world around him, inspiring young viewers to do the same.
“Rookie is one of a kind: Its simple, colored in, illustration-based cartoon style with a tick of retro touch is different from most programs on the market,” says Christian Leiss of Leiss Animation & Postproduction.
